Let’s jump into this delicious list!

We mapped out the city’s must-try restaurants, coffee shops and sweet spots, each one serving up something special. From brunch plates made with love to lakeside strolls and elegant Italian dining, here’s how we spent a full day tasting our way through Sudbury, one delicious stop at a time.

Breakfast at Benni’s Rise and Shine

Where: 125 Loachs Rd, Greater Sudbury, ON (View Map)

We started our morning at Benni’s Rise and Shine, a local favourite where breakfast feels like home!

Known for chef-crafted classics and generous portions, it’s the kind of spot that makes early mornings worth it. We dived into golden pancakes stacked high, poached eggs topped with silky hollandaise and sides that hit every comfort note: crispy bacon, roasted potatoes and bottomless coffee, all poured with a smile. It’s the best fuel for a day of exploring Sudbury restaurants and cafés.

Sweet Stop at Anna-Laura Patisserie et Petit Cafe

Where: Located at the back of Benni’s Rise and Shine, 125 Loachs Rd, Greater Sudbury, ON (View Map)

Located at the back of Benni’s, Anna-Laura Pâtisserie et Petit Café is a hidden gem that brings a little taste of France to Sudbury.

The air is filled with the buttery scent of croissants and espresso and the display case is lined with pastries that look almost too pretty to eat. We tried a flaky almond croissant and a seasonal donut (pumpkin cheesecake — need we say more?), paired with a creamy latte that tasted like pure joy.

Whether you stop in for a quick treat or linger over coffee, this spot turns any morning into something sweet.

Things to Do: Stroll Along the Ramsey Lake Boardwalk

Where: Ramsey Lake, Greater Sudbury, ON (View Map)

After an awesome start to the day, we headed outdoors to stretch our legs along the Ramsey Lake Boardwalk. This easy, one-kilometre path follows the shoreline of Ramsey Lake.

One of the largest city-contained lakes in the world, it’s a local favourite for a reason. With gentle waves, scenic views and plenty of benches to pause and take it all in, it’s the ideal post-breakfast stroll. Sudbury’s often called the “City of Lakes,” with over 300 scattered across the region, inspiring local chefs to bring fresh, lake-to-table flavours into their kitchens.

Lunch at Kouzzina

For lunch, we made our way to Kouzzina, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant that blends warm hospitality with big flavour.

Hand dipping warm pita bread into creamy spinach and cheese dip at The Kouzzina in Sudbury.

This felt like dining at a true Sudbury staple, a place that has earned its reputation for excellence. Every dish celebrated freshness and balance, from the crispy fried calamari and creamy spinach and cheese dip with warm pita to the standout pear and gorgonzola pizza. The flavours were flawlessly layered, sweet, savoury and smoky with pancetta, arugula and a drizzle of hot pepper jelly. Each bite proved why Sudbury’s culinary scene deserves to be celebrated.

Afternoon Treat at Beards Coffee Bar + Bakery

Where: 587-593 Kathleen St, Greater Sudbury, ON (View Map)

Our afternoon adventure took us to the Donovan neighbourhood, where Beards Coffee Bar + Bakery has become a local favourite for good reason. At its core, Beards is a bakery producing some of Sudbury’s most innovative and drool-worthy pastries and desserts.

From colourful Pop-Tarts and giant donuts to weekend cinnamon buns and chewy cookies, everything is 100% vegan and made from scratch. The coffee menu is just as impressive, featuring rich espresso drinks and seasonal specials that pair beautifully with their baked creations. Every bite and sip feels crafted with care, creativity and genuine passion.

Hot Tip: Planning ahead for next summer? Add Flurple’s to your itinerary. Right next door to Beard’s, they’re known for inventive and colourful ice cream flavours worth the trip!

Dinner Options in Sudbury: The Laughing Buddha or Verdicchio Ristorante Enoteca

Whether you’re craving casual comfort or refined elegance, Sudbury’s dinner scene has you covered.

Verdicchio Ristorante Enoteca

Where: 1351-D Kelly Lake Road, Greater Sudbury, ON (View Map)

To wrap up our day, we dined at Verdicchio Ristorante Enoteca, a Feast On® certified restaurant that defines Sudbury’s elevated food scene.

Thinly sliced beef carpaccio topped with arugula, shaved cheese and a drizzle of olive oil on a white plate.

Family-owned since 1994, Verdicchio blends classic Italian technique with Northern Ontario ingredients to create dishes that tell a story of both place and passion.

Dinner began with golden arancini filled with creamy risotto and truffle crema, followed by soft, housemade gnocchi coated in a tomato sauce that burst with brightness.

The beef carpaccio was paper-thin, layered with peppery greens and drizzled with olive oil. Each plate arrived beautifully balanced and comforting. Paired incredibly with a glass from their impressive wine list, it’s an amazing spot to enjoy a memorable dinner.

Dinner at The Laughing Buddha

Where: 194 Elgin St, Greater Sudbury, ON (View Map)

Let’s talk pizza! This family-owned Sudbury restaurant is a local legend, known for its craveable pizzas, craft beers and friendly vibes. If the weather’s warm, grab a seat on the patio and soak up the buzz of downtown Sudbury.

If not, the cozy interior is just as inviting!

The menu is stacked with options, but the pizzas are the real stars.

Try The Buddha, piled high with pepperoni, bacon, ham, roasted red peppers and sun-dried tomatoes, or opt for the Hala Kahiki Aki, a sweet-and-savoury favourite topped with caramelized onions, pineapple, prosciutto, roasted cashews and a drizzle of balsamic reduction.

The Laughing Buddha truly delivers on flavour! Pair it with a lychee martini or one of their rotating local beers on tap, the perfect way to toast a day well spent in Sudbury.
